Sometime around 1983 I decided to turn a milk house which was attached to the barn into a studio. Dane was happy with this idea as the structure was a later add-on. Natalia Douglass a friend from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Montreal who lived in Glengarry and was building a very large house loaned us her carpenter Rollie and his friend to help us move it into an open field. When finished, it had electricity heat and insulation. I moved my Juno-60 and an old National amp in there along with some recording equipment and had the best time ever playing and writing. Over the years the studio slowly became a catch-all for everybody’s junk including Dane’s collection of Zap comics which often had very lewd strips (Captain Piss Gums comes to mind.) The kids spent a lot of time in there with their friends looking at this stuff. Sylvan just wrote this waltz for his friend Alex who makes video games. It puts me in mind of fine Austro-Hungarian types in powdered wigs and lace prancing around in gilded halls.
